Kevin Allen: How to start fixing the Nashville Predators The Predators have grown stale and general manager David Poile's mandate will be to freshen up the offense and defense this fall.

Rights to Lawrence Pilut and/or Ristolainen if they want to make it a bigger deal. Two teams that could help each other

How about a change at GM?

Source (it’s a few years old but still valid): https://www.google.com/am...david-poile-the-myth/amp/

The 2017-2018 season is David Poile’s 40th NHL season as an assistant-GM or GM, and his 35th year as GM of a team. That’s a long time and he deserve praise for being able to last this long in pro sports. However, people don’t seem to recall that the teams he has managed have only made it past the second round of the playoffs TWICE in that time span, in 1990 with the Capitals and last year with the Predators! Yes, twice in 40 years.

It's not unreasonable to think that Poile could be fired. In most similar situations, the GM would be vulnerable. But I don't see it happening in Nashville. Poile is the only GM the franchise has known, and he's a class act. I see this ownership team allowing him to pick his retirement date.

Maybe Poile moves upstairs and lets someone else take the reins? Not Rinnes. Him and Poile are around the same age.
